So even with those odds how did I do it twice? That would be 1 in 9 million shot. Obviously not luck.

Some of you may remember after managing HouseHoldHacker (YouTube) I ventured into fiverr a website that provides nearly any service you are looking for.

The importance of robots.txt

Although the robots.txt file is a very important file if you want to have a good ranking on search engines, many Web sites don’t offer this file.

If your Web site doesn’t have a robots.txt file yet, read on to learn how to create one. If you already have a robots.txt file, read our tips to make sure that it doesn’t contain errors.
What is robots.txt?
When a search engine crawler comes to your site, it will look for a special file on your site. That file is called robots.txt and it tells the search engine spider, which Web pages of your site should be indexed and which Web pages should be ignored.
The robots.txt file is a simple text file (no HTML), that must be placed in your root directory, for example:
    https://www.yourwebsite.com/robots.txt
How do I create a robots.txt file?
As mentioned above, the robots.txt file is a simple text file. Open a simple text editor to create it. The content of a robots.txt file consists of so-called “records”.
A record contains the information for a special search engine. Each record consists of two fields: the user agent line and one or more Disallow lines. Here’s an example:
    User-agent: googlebot
    Disallow: /cgi-bin/
This robots.txt file would allow the “googlebot”, which is the search engine spider of Google, to retrieve every page from your site except for files from the “cgi-bin” directory. All files in the “cgi-bin” directory will be
ignored by googlebot.
The Disallow command works like a wildcard. If you enter
    User-agent: googlebot
    Disallow: /support
both “/support-desk/index.html” and “/support/index.html” as well as all other files in the “support” directory would not be indexed by search engines.
If you leave the Disallow line blank, you’re telling the search engine that all files may be indexed. In any case, you must enter a Disallow line for every User-agent record.
If you want to give all search engine spiders the same rights, use the following robots.txt content:
    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /cgi-bin/
Where can I find user agent names?
You can find user agent names in your log files by checking for requests to robots.txt. Most often, all search engine spiders should be given the same rights. in that case, use “User-agent: *” as mentioned above.
Things you should avoid
If you don’t format your robots.txt file properly, some or all files of your Web site might not get indexed by search engines. To avoid this, do the following:
  1. Don’t use comments in the robots.txt file

    Although comments are allowed in a robots.txt file, they might confuse some search engine spiders.

    “Disallow: support # Don’t index the support directory” might be misinterepreted as “Disallow: support#Don’t index the support directory“.

  2. Don’t use white space at the beginning of a line. For example, don’t write

    placeholder User-agent: *place Disallow: /support
    but

    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /support

  3. Don’t change the order of the commands. If your robots.txt file should work, don’t mix it up. Don’t write

    Disallow: /support
    User-agent: *
    but

    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /support

  4. Don’t use more than one directory in a Disallow line. Do not use the following

    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /support /cgi-bin/ /images/
    Search engine spiders cannot understand that format. The correct syntax for this is

    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /support
    Disallow: /cgi-bin/
    Disallow: /images/

  5. Be sure to use the right case. The file names on your server are case sensitve. If the name of your directory is “Support“, don’t write “support” in the robots.txt file.
  6. Don’t list all files. If you want a search engine spider to ignore all files in a special directory, you don’t have to list all files. For example:

    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /support/orders.html
    Disallow: /support/technical.html
    Disallow: /support/helpdesk.html
    Disallow: /support/index.html
    You can replace this with

    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /support

  7. There is no “Allow” command

    Don’t use an “Allow” command in your robots.txt file. Only mention files and directories that you don’t want to be indexed. All other files will be indexed automatically if they are linked on your site.

Tips and tricks:
1. How to allow all search engine spiders to index all files
    Use the following content for your robots.txt file if you want to allow all search engine spiders to index all files of your Web site:
    User-agent: *
    Disallow:
2. How to disallow all spiders to index any file
    If you don’t want search engines to index any file of your Web site, use the following:
    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /
3. Where to find more complex examples.
    If you want to see more complex examples, of robots.txt files, view the robots.txt files of big Web sites:
Your Web site should have a proper robots.txt file if you want to have good rankings on search engines. Only if search engines know what to do with your pages, they can give you a good ranking.

You won’t see a good marketer place a banner ad for pizza on a site that promotes weight loss, right? Not unless they like losing money!


One of the most effective forms of advertising is not only free, but can also have great SEO benefits?   I’m not talking about banner ads or expensive radio commercials.


What do you see on a daily basis? What do you see each time you log onto Facebook or Pinterest? What are the most shared items on the Internet?


Memes / eCards!

Memes and eCards are EXTREMELY effective in creating backlinks to your site through a natural sharing process. They’re simple. They’re free. They’re fast. And they work. 


1)      Follow the familiar template of the meme or eCard.
2)      Include your site name if appropriate. Brand recognition is key! You can even include the URL or company logo.
3)      Keep your message classy. Some memes and eCards push the limits of political correctness. They can hurt your image just as easily as they can help it.
4)      Keep your message consistent. Make it about what you do as a company or how you can help the individual. Be creative and relevant.
5)      Put the pictures on your site and make them easy to share. That’s a big one!
6)      Create a humor board(s) on Pinterest or albums on other networks. Pin your images with your link and your description (more on good description etiquette in a later article).
7)      Name your picture appropriately so that it’s keyword searchable. Ex) Futurama-Fry-Monopolize-Social-Media.jpg
8)      Don’t forget about placing them on Facebook, Google +, Twitter, Flicker, Instagram etc.


Making your own eCard is a good alternative since anyone can freely use a small colored rectangle with a picture and a caption. Below are some example memes we put together to give you a better idea.

UPDATE in the last 15 hrs since this was written the post below almost doubled in traffic.


One of my favorite methods or strategies whatever you want to call it has been posting a great photo on google+ then adding in the caption and url of my choice. 
I have been doing this ever since I joined and I have mentioned it 100 times. That being said WHY?
Upload an image and place the link in the description.
Now if the post is big it may get 1800 plus 1’s 400 shares 300 comments etc. I get posts with over 200,000 views. I have others with 300,000 even 400,000. 
So what is the point of all that if it is not doing anything for you or your website?
Well I manage many clients and found creative ways to make it count. The CTR varies 10 percent to 20 percent always in that range which is just fine by me. 10% of 250,000 is 25,000 hits to the site. Out of 25,000 think maybe there may be a buyer in there? Or 2 or 40? 
So this post for example done today so far let’s say 16,500 views it is a photo of the product I am trying to get interest to. I didn’t use a photo of a beautiful river and slide in a link that made no sense.


Well we know minimum CTR is 10% ideally 20% so lets say 15% that is 2500 hits to the desired site in the caption. Now does that mean 2500 people bought? NO!! Does it mean maybe 10 people did? Sure!! Does it mean 10 more may come back later YES!

Now I can do this all day this is just 1 post for 1 client on 1 day.

Now this post I did yesterday. 
Over 205,000 views. I could have easily threw that image up on a blog post or pin and put a url in there but I really didn’t care. 
The fact is I got 205,000 views on 1 post. I would be amazed but that happens a few times a week. More importantly I do this for clients on a post that is relevant.


Is this a magic answer to everything NO but I will say this having an extra 2000 to 15000 hits a day come in to a desired website certainly doesn’t hurt. Now could I have popped in any url in the post above? 
Yes I could have. Let’s say I put up a travel company client. Well the sites gets 30,000 hits from the post. Do you think out of 30,000 we have some sales?

I would say yes we do. The point is once you have earned power you must respect power. I hope this helps some of you once again nothing new to me or anyone that knows me been doing this since I joined gplus. 

As I said updated stats on post from 16,000 to 25,000 views.
